The Amazing Review Page

Welcome!

Deciding that my main page is being too taken up to my reviews, I've decided to give my reviews a whole page to themselves!  I hope you like my reviews, and find them informative.  Like my reviews?  Want me to review something?  Feel free to email me with suggestions!

Movie Madness

Big Fish - A fairy tale by Tim Burton.  Honestly one of the best movies I have ever seen.  I rarely like movies the first time I see them in theaters, but this one I was all ready to watch it again, or atleast purchase it on the way out.  My favorite sceen was either the glass eye, or the bank scene.  But it is hard to chose, as 95% of the movie was my favorite part. I love the way the stories are told, a faery tale with that magical touch of Tim Burton.  Truly a work of art.  *****

Lord of the Ring Trilogy - After three years, this triology has finally come to an end.  The first movie set a good pace, leaving you with high expectations for the other two, which I feel were well met.  However, I feel that the movie versions were confusing, and when watching the extended DVDs, I feel that the 3-hour limit on each movie was very restrictive.  Congrats for taking a poorly written book, and making it intelligable/entertaining for the average Joe!Few movies can claim that.  I will give the regular version **** 1/2, and the extended (granted Return of the King won't come out for a year on DVD) all the stars. *****

Fight Club - Very Interesting movie.  I love this movie, and I bought it at BestBuy last week for $4.50!! What a steal!  I was watching it today, and couldn't get over how great this movie is.  I'm already feeling ready to watch it again! Yes, I had seen it before...but GEEZ is it a good movie.  Edward Norton is one of my favorite movie actors (I think he is an even act better than Depp...)  And everyone already loves Brad Pitt.  Fave line: "Now your shooting at your imaginary friend, and [insert number] of pounds of nitro glycerine!"
I think the tagline describes everything..."Mischief. Mayhem. Soap".  Go watch this one!  *****

Pirates of the Caribbean - Interesting movie that's better than it's theme ride.  Orlando Bloom's character makes me want to hit him, but that only amplifies how great Johnny Depp's character is.  Captain Jack Sparrow.  It's got a lot of fun action scenes, great one liners, and theme music to make you dance.  Might not have a great deal of drama, but it is VERY entertaining.  And afterall, isn't that what a movie is for?  *****

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Interesting movie about..well...extraordinary people.  I enjoyed how different the characters were, some known from different books and such.  It does have a really good overall plot, but I wish I would have known more about the individual characters.  I kind of felt like I was thrown in the middle of the comic book without a beginning.  The only real thing about the movie, was that it would have unrealistic things...like a GIANT submarine going through the narrow canals of Italy.....How would they turn it?? I can't imagine it's all straight...How will they back up?  just seemed a bit irrational.  Otherwise it was very cool.  ***

Donnie Darko - VERY interesting horror flick that was made in 2001.  It's amusing and flows smoothly.  It's not PumpkinHead running around trying to kill the teenagers while they try to damn him to hell.  It's...well...Frank.  He's really neat.  You'll want to have a friend named Frank.  If you have an overactive imagination...I gaurantee bad dreams for a couple nights.  Maybe even if you don't have an overactive imagination.  Fave line: "How does it feel to have a psycho for a son?" "It feels...Wonderful."
Very interesting, and I highly recommend it.  ****

What's New?

You should go see Big Fish while it's in theaters.  Even if you don't know or like Tim Burton.  It is unlike anyother movie he, or anyone else has created.  It has been called the "Wizard of Oz" of today.  And to be honest, I wouldn't say that's far off.
